Allah is not the God of the Bible

Muslims believe that there is no other God besides Allah and that he is the God of the universe. They claim that not only is he their God, but that he is the God of the Jews, the Christians and everyone else. When examining the profile of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and comparing it with Allah’s profile, there are a number of distinct differences between them that can only result in one conclusion: These profiles simply do not match! Allah is NOT the God of the Bible!

The Islamic faith, through the teachings of Muhammad, asserts that Allah is God and attempt to place him within the confines of the Holy Scriptures. When the Bible contradicts their teachings, they allege that it is flawed, has been tampered with, and has many errors. They further claim that the Koran, through the teachings of their prophet Muhammad, corrects them. However, it has already been established that Muhammad was both a false prophet and teacher. Therefore, Islam’s allegations are unsupported, baseless and without merit.

There are a number of major differences between the God of the Bible and Allah. This chapter will focus upon five reasons why they are not the same. According to the Holy Scriptures, the God of the Bible is the one true God while Allah is a false god.

1. God’s Begotten Son

The Hebrew Scriptures clearly teach that God has a begotten Son. The Old Testament reference can be found in Psalm 2:6-7, which states:

• “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (7) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.”

Though the Muslims are taught that this passage refers to King David, David was begotten of Jesse. Ruth 4:22 states, “And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.” In Psalm 2:7, the Hebrew word yalad is used, Strong’s 3205. This word refers to an actual begetting, bearing, birthing and siring. Therefore, this passage clearly teaches that the God of the Bible has an actual begotten Son. As fulfilled in the New Testament, Luke 1:30-32, 34-35 declares that He was born of a virgin:

“And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. (31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David…(34) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? (35) And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

When referring to the New Testament, Acts 13:33 cites Psalm 2:7 indicating that it was Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, who is the fulfillment of God’s begotten Son. Acts 13:33 attests: “God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.”

It is also significant to note that, in Acts 13:33, the Greek word gennao is used, Strong’s 1080. Regarding this word’s definition, it is the equivalent to the Hebrew word yalad. This word also refers to an actual begetting, bearing, birthing and siring.

Though both Old and New Testaments teach that God has a begotten Son, the Koran emphatically rejects Allah having a son. In the following Suras, Muhammad declares:

The Believers
Sura 23.91 “Never did Allah take to Himself a son, and never was there with him any other god-- in that case would each god have certainly taken away what he created, and some of them would certainly have overpowered others; glory be to Allah above what they describe!”

The Distinction
Sura 25.2 “He, Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Who did not take to Himself a son, and Who has no associate in the kingdom, and Who created everything, then ordained for it a measure.”

In direct opposition to the Koran, Jesus teaches in John 3:16-18 that He, as God’s only begotten Son, is the only way to eternal salvation and everlasting life. He also instructs that those who deny Him as the only begotten Son of God are doomed to destruction:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

With respect to this passage, John 3:18 is just as important as John 3:16 when considering the teachings of Muhammad in the Koran. John 3:18 declares condemnation to those who do not believe “in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Meanwhile, Muhammad teaches to reject God’s Son. Therefore, when considering the message of salvation in the Bible, the Islamic faith, through the guidance of a false instructor and prophet, teaches condemnation to all, not salvation to all!

Throughout the New Testament, the message that Muhammad rejects remains consistent. Jesus Himself continues to testify in John 14:6 and Matthew 10:32-33 the following:

• John 14:6 “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
• Matthew 10:32-33 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. (33) But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

While the Holy Scriptures continue to stress that the only way to eternal salvation is through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, the Koran, through the written words of Mohammed, teaches that Allah will destroy anyone who believes that he has a son. The applicable Sura from the Koran and the written words of Mohammed follow:

The Immunity
Sura 9.30 “And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!”

With respect to the begotten Son issue, Allah cannot be the God of the Bible. The Scriptures are blatantly clear that God has a begotten Son and that His Son is the only way to salvation. Meanwhile, the Koran teaches that Allah does not have a son and that those who believe that he does will be destroyed. Therefore, Allah is NOT the God of the Bible!

2. The Godhead, or Trinity

One of the basic fundamental principles of Christianity is the concept of the Godhead, or Trinity. Christians do not believe in three Gods; they believe in a Triune God. They are taught that the LORD manifested Himself to the world in three ways. Secondly, His Word was made flesh in the form of His only begotten Son, John 1:1,14. And finally, His Holy Spirit was manifested to the world. In John 16:13-15, Jesus describes the Spirit as follows:

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (14) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. (15) All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

Furthermore, in John 14:16-18, Jesus describes the Holy Spirit as “another Comforter:”

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (17) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

According to the Book of Acts, this was fulfilled in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:1-4 explains that, on that day, the Holy Ghost descended upon the disciples and they all began to speak in tongues:

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

In conclusion, the God of the Bible manifested Himself to the world in the person of Jesus Christ when His Word was made flesh, John 1:1,14. Furthermore, He manifested Himself to the world when His Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples in the upper room on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2:1-4. This is a brief illustration of the Godhead, or Trinity: three persons in one God or God manifesting Himself in three persons.

In absolute contradiction to the Scriptural foundation that God is a Triune Being, according to Muhammad, Allah has a completely different makeup. The applicable Sura from the Koran, which refers to Jesus by the name of Isa, emphasizes that Allah is not three:

Sura 4.171 “O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak lies against Allah, but speak the truth; the Messiah, Isa son of Marium is only an apostle of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Marium and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His apostles, and say not, Three.”

Therefore, with respect to the Godhead, or Trinity, there is only one conclusion that can be made: Allah is NOT the God of the Bible!

3. The Crucifixion

John 19:16-18 “Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. (17) And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: (18) Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.”

The Holy Scriptures specifically teach that Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, was crucified approximately two thousand years ago for the sins of mankind. They hung Him on a cross to die a criminal’s death. 1 John 2:2 further testifies: “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

According to the Bible, everyone can achieve redemption and everlasting life through God’s only begotten Son and His shed blood at the cross. The wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23, and Jesus died for all of us so that we can live forever. This is the Good News of God’s saving grace for mankind. However the Koran, through the spoken words of Mohammed, adamantly rejects the crucifixion. The applicable Sura from the Koran follows:

The Woman
Sura 4.157 “And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the apostle of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure.”

With respect to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, it is apparent that the Gospel message in the Bible is radically different from the message given by Allah through his prophet Muhammad. The denial of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Muhammad in his teachings in the Koran leads to the undeniable fact that the God of the Bible cannot be Allah. Their messages are substantially different since both Muhammad and Allah reject the God of the Bible’s only begotten Son.

4. The God of the Bible Condemns Muhammad

As we have seen, John 3:18 states: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

The Gospel message in the Bible is quite clear: All those who reject the only begotten Son of God are condemned. No person can receive everlasting life and the forgiveness of sins except through Him. In Matthew 10:33, Jesus states: “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

Muhammad, a supposed prophet of Allah, denies God’s only begotten Son. Not only did he deny Him, he taught others to do so as well. Therefore, based on the words in the Bible and based on the words in the Koran, Muhammad is condemned by the God of the Bible as the result of his own false teachings. According to Matthew 10:33, He is also condemned by His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Besides the Suras already cited, the following additional Suras demonstrate Muhammad’s rejection of God’s message of salvation to mankind:

Jonah
Sura 10.68 “They say: Allah has taken a son (to Himself)! Glory be to Him: He is the Self-sufficient: His is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth; you have no authority for this; do you say against Allah what you do not know?”

The Children of Israel
Sura 17.111 “And say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has not a partner in the kingdom, and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him).”

The Cave
Sura 18.4 “And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son.”

Marium
Sura 19.35 “It beseems not Allah that He should take to Himself a son, glory to be Him; when He has decreed a matter He only says to it "Be," and it is.”

Because of the contrary teachings of Islam’s prophet Muhammad, if he were alive today, and the world submitted to Biblical law, he would again be given the death penalty as is commanded in Deuteronomy 13:1-5, specifically verse 5, as follows:

“If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, (2) And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; (3) Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (4) Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. (5) And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God…”

5. The God of the Bible Rejects Allah

Throughout the Holy Scriptures, the prophets of God stressed that there is no god besides Him. According to them, He is the only God. The applicable Scriptural references follow:

• Exodus 20:2-3 “I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. (3) Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
• Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”
• Deuteronomy 32:39 “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”
• Isaiah 44:6 “Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.”

According to John 17:3 Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, confirms that the Father is the one true God. With respect to His Father, Jesus states: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

In no way is John 17:3 to be used to deny Jesus’ Deity. Note: See the Answering the Objections to the Deity of Jesus chapter for an explanation of this verse that actually proves the Deity of the Son. Jesus’ statement in this verse denies the Deity of all others. Since this chapter illustrates that Allah is NOT the God of the Bible, there is only one conclusion that can be made: According to Exodus 20:2-3, Deuteronomy 6:4, Deuteronomy 32:39, Isaiah 44:6, and John 17:3, the LORD God of the Bible and His only begotten Son reject Allah. Allah is not a true G(g)od. Therefore, he is a false god!
